Doc Martens!

So last weekend whilst I was having 'Duckenfield Therapy' I also did some retail therapy and bought some new Docs! Now for those who don't know my history with Docs, let me fill you in!

When I was 16 year's old I really, really, really wanted a pair of Doc Martens and I learnt that the best Doc Martens were supposed to be in Melbourne! And lucky me, we were going to Melbourne for our family holiday! Yippee! Anyways, in my family if you wanted a present that was that expensive then it needed to be for both your birthday and Christmas present all in one. And at this stage I was dying for a pari of Docs so that was the sacrifice I was willing to make! After many jokes about me walking around with only one boot for a few months(as I wasn't getting the second for my birthday which was in April-and yes, my mum thought that was hilarious!) we finally came to the agreement that I could get Docs and I could have them both at the same time.

Now you have to remember that back then I wasn't as fluent with the internet as I am now and I didn't research where you could buy these supposedly awesome Docs Martens in Melbourne so it was a little bit of a choose your own adventure! Mind you, I told mum, dad, my little bro and sis and the family friends who came with us that I knew exactly where I was going. Haha! Anyway, eventually we walked the entire Mall in Melbourne and found a store that had awesome boots! Then the next dilemma arrived-I wanted the awesome rainbow like pattern boots and there was NO WAY my mum would have that! So we agreed on the dark blue but yet still black 8 hole boots. That way mum could imagine they were black with a little blue and I could imagine they were blue with NO black! Plus I had plenty of ideas of what I could do to them. Haha!

Now no body told me about how stiff and hard Docs are until you have worn them in! So after many blisters and moments of pain (hidden from everyone of course-heaven forbid my Docs weren't as amazing as I had made them out to be!) I loved them!

Over the years these boots became the staple of my outfits, even under skirts which received plenty of comments from my Nanna about how ladies DO NOT wear boots with skirts! Haha! I changed the laces so many times and they currently have the originally bright yellow Bananna in Pyjamas laces that are quite dull and dirty now. These are in a box at my mum's house where they will rest in peace with many memories accompanying them!

From here I started to earn $$ in my part time job and bought my own pair of black boots for work. These became stinky, gross and the soles amost fell apart before I decided they needed to find the bin. I did work at Maccas and they got covered in the most disgusting things!

I also have owned a Metallic Blue pair, Rustic purple pair and Mary Janes that stretched way too much and were too big for me at the end of the day! But finally I have purchased another pair-my best pair yet! Purple, snake skin! And they rock!!! They were made of soft leather so I didn't have to endure the blisters and pain of wearing them in! Oh how I love my Docs!

P.S. If you have an old pair that is still in good nick-let me know~ I may have a new home for them :)
