Doc Martens!

So last weekend whilst I was having 'Duckenfield Therapy' I also did some retail therapy and bought some new Docs! Now for those who don't know my history with Docs, let me fill you in!

When I was 16 year's old I really, really, really wanted a pair of Doc Martens and I learnt that the best Doc Martens were supposed to be in Melbourne! And lucky me, we were going to Melbourne for our family holiday! Yippee! Anyways, in my family if you wanted a present that was that expensive then it needed to be for both your birthday and Christmas present all in one. And at this stage I was dying for a pari of Docs so that was the sacrifice I was willing to make! After many jokes about me walking around with only one boot for a few months(as I wasn't getting the second for my birthday which was in April-and yes, my mum thought that was hilarious!) we finally came to the agreement that I could get Docs and I could have them both at the same time.

Now you have to remember that back then I wasn't as fluent with the internet as I am now and I didn't research where you could buy these supposedly awesome Docs Martens in Melbourne so it was a little bit of a choose your own adventure! Mind you, I told mum, dad, my little bro and sis and the family friends who came with us that I knew exactly where I was going. Haha! Anyway, eventually we walked the entire Mall in Melbourne and found a store that had awesome boots! Then the next dilemma arrived-I wanted the awesome rainbow like pattern boots and there was NO WAY my mum would have that! So we agreed on the dark blue but yet still black 8 hole boots. That way mum could imagine they were black with a little blue and I could imagine they were blue with NO black! Plus I had plenty of ideas of what I could do to them. Haha!

Now no body told me about how stiff and hard Docs are until you have worn them in! So after many blisters and moments of pain (hidden from everyone of course-heaven forbid my Docs weren't as amazing as I had made them out to be!) I loved them!

Over the years these boots became the staple of my outfits, even under skirts which received plenty of comments from my Nanna about how ladies DO NOT wear boots with skirts! Haha! I changed the laces so many times and they currently have the originally bright yellow Bananna in Pyjamas laces that are quite dull and dirty now. These are in a box at my mum's house where they will rest in peace with many memories accompanying them!

From here I started to earn $$ in my part time job and bought my own pair of black boots for work. These became stinky, gross and the soles amost fell apart before I decided they needed to find the bin. I did work at Maccas and they got covered in the most disgusting things!

I also have owned a Metallic Blue pair, Rustic purple pair and Mary Janes that stretched way too much and were too big for me at the end of the day! But finally I have purchased another pair-my best pair yet! Purple, snake skin! And they rock!!! They were made of soft leather so I didn't have to endure the blisters and pain of wearing them in! Oh how I love my Docs!

P.S. If you have an old pair that is still in good nick-let me know~ I may have a new home for them :)

Duckenfield Therapy!!

After a wonderful weekend, I have come to the conclusion that spending time with my mum and dad, best friend and close friends, that there is no therapy like 'Duckenfield Therapy'. I have so called this therapy based on my little home town of Duckenfield. It has only 2 roads in it and of course one is Duckenfield Road! I do believe that the homemade scones, cup of tea with the real tea leaves and the aged and so perfectly tasting teapot and the long chats with my mum and dad, were exactly what the doctor ordered. Spending the afternoon with my best friend was also wonderful! We viewed a reception place for her wedding and then she tried on her first few wedding dresses! A very spesh memory indeed! This was all topped off with a baked dinner with some great friends, 6 week old puppies to cuddle and homemade profiteroles for desert!

The weekend then continued to a Sunday morning Duckenfield breakfast which was finished with another wonderful cup of tea. As the morning came to an end we had those wonderful hugs (the ones only a mum and dad can give!) and then off we went to come back to our other home.

I also love the drive home because we had no radio, no music and just each other's company. It is often on these trips that we have our D and M conversations about our plans for the future, what we have on for the next few weeks and right down to what we're doing this week. And every now and then we sit in silence feeling the love between us. And today there were some wonderful silent moments that often finished with Aaron saying something so sweet and lovely... I'm smiling now just thinking about it!

I will always cherish these moments and when things get too much, I'm going to get me some homemade 'Duckenfield Therapy'

Have a good week everyone,

Love and Hugs xoxo

*Find some HOT shoes!
*Complete our marriage course when the priest is back from pilgrimage

The things that can wait or I have to wait to do are:

*Check the bmaid's dresses are ok (they come in in July!)
*Seating Plan
*Table decos with the florist
* Decide on  a cake design
*Hair and Makeup Trial

Ummmm I'm sure there are many more things to do, but I think this is enough for now! And if you have any suggestions from those already married, please send me a message!

An Amazing Woman!

I have been following this blog after my friend Kieran recommended it to me! It is just the most inspirational blog! I am in awe of Stephanie's strength and commitment to her family and her faith. She is an inspiration to us all and has just recorded this video. If you have time to sit and wait and watch, it is worth it (Oh and you may need a tissue! I did!)

Well, Saturday the 10th April was such an amazing day! Nobody could have hoped for more. The weather was perfect, the dress was divine and everybody felt all the love and warmth a wedding inspires!

From the music at the church to the beading of the handmade bags, to the final speech of the evening from the proud groom, my little brother- everything was just perfect! We all had such a wonderful day and night and people are still buzzing about how divine the whole thing was!

We are even more excited about our own wedding after sharing such a memorable experience at my brother's! We will be inviting the family and as many friends as possible because after all, that is one of the things that made the special day!

Here are some pics of the beautiful day:

What a wonderful day!!!

Well, in three more sleeps my little brother will be married! Oh how exciting?!? It is the wedding season at the moment-we are at that time where our friends are all getting married and life is starting a new phase. It is exciting and curious all in one. After all, that often means babies are usually next. Are we ready for babies? No not yet... but we will be... So, for now I am focusing on my little bro's wedding and then it will time to focus on ours! Here's to a wonderful weekend!
